“For setting up a fair social, human and democratic system, the balance between the social and legal state, as two inevitable controversies should be socially acceptable, legally fair and institutionally enforceable.
Such balance will be acceptable when it becomes a general social norm, which is legally codified.
This may be achieved and it makes sense only when in the process of creating of country’s laws is ensured a broad participation, which provides inclusion of interests of as many as possible social classes and groups, possibly of all groups”.

| Protection and promotion of human rights in Mitrovica region during the period of time 2011/2012 |

23 October 2012 – The Ombudsperson`s regional office in Mitrovica organized a round table with the representatives of civil society, NGOs, Human Rights Municipal Units, representatives of District and Municipal Court, Prosecutors, representatives of regional Police and other institutions. The participants discussed and estimated the protection of Human Rights in Mitrovica for the period of time 2011/2012.
The participants reached a joint conclusion that political problems seriously impact the Human Rights issues in generally, but they also agreed that coordination and cooperation may be realized within the responsibilities of each institution, such as the equal possibilities for education and employment for the vulnerable groups and access of persons with disabilities to the facilities of public institutions.
The round table was supported by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.
Additional explanation: this activity is a part of series of thematic round tables planned to be organized during the year 2012. These round tables will be supported by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo in support of newly established departments within the Ombudsperson Institution.
